‘Tense' is a way of observing the state of events (Wang, 1944; Gao,1948), which can be subdivided into six types of actualized aspect(with the perfective marker le 了), experiential aspect(with the experiential marker guo 过), initiative aspect(with the initiative marker qilai 起来), progressive aspect(with the progressive marker zai 在 and stative marker zhe 着), continuous aspect(with the continuous marker xiaqu 下去) and ephemeral marker(in the form of verb reduplication)(Dai, 1997).
