If the modal verbs 能 néng, 会 huì or 该gāi are used in a comparison or similarity construction, X 比bǐ Y or X 跟gēn Y 一样yī yàng precedes the modal verb if the focus is on the modal verb itself.
Tā bǐ wǒ néng shuō huà 。
He is more eloquent than I am.
Nǐ gēn wǒ yī yàng huì yóu xì 。
You know how to swim as well as I do.
Nǐ gāi bǐ wǒ lái dé zǎo （yī ）xiē 。
Nǐ gāi lái dé bǐ wǒ zǎo （yī ）xiē 。
You should have come in a little earlier than I did.
Tā dé gēn dà jiā yī yàng pái duì 。
He should queue up like the others/the rest of us.
Tā huì chuān dé bǐ dà jiā dōu shí máo （yī ）xiē 。
Tā huì bǐ dà jiā dōu chuān dé shí máo （yī ）xiē 。
She will probably dress up a little more fashionably than the others/the rest of us.
