X 比bǐ Y + adjective is the basic construction expressing a comparison:

玫瑰花比茉莉花香。

Méi guī huā bǐ mò lì huā xiāng 。

Roses smell sweeter than jasmine.

菠菜比白菜好吃。

Bō cài bǐ bái cài hǎo chī 。

Spinach is tastier than cabbage.

A complement of degree may be placed after the adjective:

菠菜比白菜好吃一点儿。

Bō cài bǐ bái cài hǎo chī yī diǎn ér 。

Spinach is a bit tastier than cabbage.

这个故事比那个故事有趣得多。

Zhè gè gù shì bǐ nà gè gù shì yǒu qù dé duō 。

This story is much more interesting than that one.

我比她大三岁。

Wǒ bǐ tā dà sān suì 。

I am three years older than her.
