Note that 往 can be pronounced wKng or wàng. 向 and 往 are often interchangeable.
外地人:请问,去邮局怎么走?
Wài dì rén :qǐng wèn ,qù yóu jú zěn me zǒu ?
Out-of-towner: Excuse me, how do I get to the post offi ce?
本地人:你先往前走两、三分钟,再往右拐,就到了。
Běn dì rén :nǐ xiān wǎng qián zǒu liǎng 、sān fèn zhōng ,zài wǎng yòu guǎi ,jiù dào le 。
Local person: Go straight ahead for two or three minutes, turn right, and you will be
there.
他往屋子里看了半天,没看到一个人。
Tā wǎng wū zǐ lǐ kàn le bàn tiān ,méi kàn dào yī gè rén 。
He looked (towards) inside the house for quite a while and didn’t see anybody.
