Cardinal numerals are built with the basic digits 一yi1 ‘one’, 二er4 ‘two’, 三san1 ‘three’, 四si4 ‘four’, 五wu3 ‘five’, 六liu4 ‘six’, 七qi1 ‘seven’, 八ba1 ‘eight’, and九 jiu3 ‘nine’; counting units 十shi2 ‘ten’, 百bai3 ‘hundred’, 千qian1 ‘thousand’, 万wan4 ‘ten thousand’, and 亿yi4 ‘hundred million’, and the place holder 零ling2 ‘zero’.
