Causative construction cause someone to undergo something: verbs such as  (gˇei/ to give),  (r`ang/ to let),  (ji`ao/ to call), and  (q˘ıng/ to invite) can be used as causative marker in a serial-verb construction indicating the NP between two verbs functioning simultaneously as the undergoer (or affected) of the initial verb and the doer (or agent) of the second verb. This type of construction is also known as pivotal construction.

爸爸讓妹妹去中國 (bà bà ràng mèi mèi qù zhōng guó/ Father let sister go to China.)
