介副詞通常會放在名詞前 (Turn on the radio),或是代名詞之後 (Turn it on),這是因為名詞有無限延展的可能,如果名詞太長,介副詞放在後面就會影響溝通,造成理解上的困難。

換言之,從溝通的角度出發,如果名詞簡短,不會造成理解困難,那麼介副詞也可以放在名詞後面 (Turn the radio on)。不過 "Turn on the radio" 這種用法的使用頻率還是比 "Turn the radio on" 高。
